Berlin Re:furnished Exhibition for Berlin Design Week 2025

Come join us at Backhaus Projects for a unique furniture exhibition and a dash of design inspiration. Whether you're looking to spruce up your living room or upgrade your furniture to something locally made, this event is the place to be. Book your free RSVP ticket on Eventbrite now.

"Berlin Re:furnished" is a solo exhibition that consists of furniture pieces made from existing (read: recycled and repurposed) materials that New Zealand designer, Angharad Summers, designed and made to furnish her apartment after moving to Berlin. In Germany, many big brands dominate the furniture market, giving independent designer-makers little chance to compete. However, although these brands offer low prices and convenience, they are often made from low quality materials - chipboard with veneer at best, sometimes only paper foil. This exhibition will show how it is possible to design, and make beautiful and unique furniture pieces without exploiting virgin materials. From decking timber or an old bed frame to factory offcuts, much "waste" is simply waiting for someone to rescue it and give it a new life.

Discover a selection of modern furniture pieces, designed and made in Berlin. Chat with the designer herself, fellow design enthusiasts, experience part of Berlin Design Week and find that perfect piece to complete your space. The furniture will be availble to purchase and take home at the end of Berlin Design Week. There will also be complimentary food and drinks on the opening night.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to elevate your home with some unique, locally made furniture. See you at Berlin Re:furnished!

By attending this event you agree that your photo may be taken and used for marketing purposes.
