Inspired by the flat roofed, curved corner art deco houses seen in New Zealand this bedside table reminds me of home while I live on the other side of the world. The natural warmth of the pine and the softened geometry bring warm childhood memories into my everyday space. It’s not often I find larger offcuts which don’t require me gluing various pieces together to make a panel but I found these pieces of pine in the shared material rack at my workshop and immediately knew I could use them. Like most of my pieces it is joined only with dowels and glue meaning it can be used till it falls apart and then recycled or burnt on a bonfire and used to toast some marshmallows. The thought of this allows me to sleep easily at night while I dream up the next furniture piece.
