Henry Lounge Chair
Henry Lounge Chair
After being given a load of solid oak timber that used to make up a three metre long dining table I set about flicking through my sketchbook for some designs which call for thick pieces of sturdy timber. A lounge chair was one piece that stuck out to me. Due to time restraints I stripped the design back to the bare minimum - no arm rests, just a simple frame with legs. I asked the sewing enthusiasts at my workshop if anyone would be interested in making some cushions from their fabric offcuts and after a short consultation with Afra, she finished them within two days, leaving me to finish the chair. This chair now reflects not only a hasty project but a collaborative one, highlighting the beauty of sharing skills, time and resources.
